French Fry Sauce

photo of french fry sauce photo courtesy of...recipezaar.com

Here is a simple recipe I threw together the other day while making dinner. I had made a batch of my home-made fries, but forgot to make a dip to go along with them. So, I went to the refrigerator and began throwing a few things together and the result is a pretty good imitation of a drive-in french fry sauce. I also ended-up putting this sauce on the hamburgers as well. Although the measurements do not need to be exact, what you are looking at is basically a 2:1 ratio of Mayo to Ketchup, with the pickle sauce adjusted to suit your taste.
What you need
  • Mayo
  • Ketchup
  • Pickle Sauce (juice from your pickle jar)
Putting it together
  1. Put ½ cup mayo in bowl
  2. Add ¼ cup ketchup and mix together until it takes on a pinkish hue (see photo)
  3. Add 3 teaspoons of pickle juice and mix well
Enjoy!

Interesting. I've never had a french fry sauce before other than ketchup but it looks really good.

Hope you having a safe and happy 4th!

Cactus Jack Splash: I'm right there with you :)

Ann: It is. I even use it on the burgers instead of ketchup and mayo.

BeadedTail: It's actually very good. If you're not sure, you can make a very small batch and try it: maybe a tablespoon of mayo, a teaspoon and a half of ketchup, and half a teaspoon of pickle juice. That way if you decide you don't like it, you're not out a lot of condiments.

I'll stick with ketchup.

That sounds great. I'll have to give it a try.

Karen & Gerard Zemek: Funny, that's just what my youngest said. She loves ketchup on her fries.

Grampy: I'm sure you'll like it:)

What is pickle sauce?

People Peeves: If you bring out a jar of pickles from your refrigerator, the liquid that your pickles are floating around in, is the Pickle Sauce. Just take your 3 teaspoons from there. Great question and I'll amend the recipe in case anyone else might have the same question.
Thanks!
