My New Toy

**Just to let you know, this is not a PPP article**

As you no doubt have noticed, I have been playing around with the design of my header. I have always wanted to do something with it, but I have not had the tools necessary to attempt a change. Well, as I was surfing through the Internet on Friday, I came across a program that has really impressed me and I would like to share it with you.

I have always wanted to have Photoshop but, unfortunately, I don't have $700 lying around. I mean, if I had that kind of money to spend, do you think I would have these ads plastered all over my site? So, I went looking for free photo editing software and I finally came up with a winner. The software is called photoscape and I am having a great time playing with it. I have downloaded a lot of other programs in the past, but this one actually seems to work. I have been playing with it the past few days and I must say that I am impressed with what this program can do. Now, I know it does not even compare with what Photoshop can do, but for free...well, I can live with it.

I have currently only been in the editing portion of the program, but I can now re-size and add text to my pictures without having to go to various websites to have it done. This program can even take screen shots of either the entire screen or whatever portion you choose. Anyway, so far I am pretty pleased and I plan to do more experimenting ( as noted in the above picture). So, if you see changes from time to time, you will know what I am doing.

If there is anyone doesn't have a photo editor and would like to have one, you might want to give this one a test drive and please let me know what you think.

  1. Melissa Erickson: Thank you very much for that tip; I wish I would have known about that months ago. I know what you mean about not being able to save anything. I would go and download something and spend a bunch of time trying to edit a picture, only to find out that in order to save it, I would have to buy their product.

  2. Great tip! I use a variety of image editing software, most of it on the cheap. I use Irfanview for basic stuff, but I did buy Paint Shop Pro for $25 at eBay. I love PSP!!! I've never been a fan of Picasa (too big, too intrusive, and it's a Google product). I'll check out Photoscape, too.

  3. Hi tahtimbo

I've been using photoscape for several months and found it pretty easy to use. For me to say easy to use regarding a paint or photo program is significant lol

Being a free program makes it superb in my book.

    Have a great day!

  4. wow Tim that sounds like a pretty good program. I am shocked that you found any for free. Good for you!!

Luckily I bought PSP about 7 years ago and I just keep updating.

When I got it, it only cost around $59.00. now it's about $300 I think!!

have fun and your header's looking good!!:-)

  6. I've had photoshop for awhile but don't know how to use it at all so I'm making my husband learn it. One of the first things he did is put a clown hat and glasses on Angel - only thing missing was her saying "someone WILL pay!". Boys will be boys!

  8. That looks like a nice site! We only have Photoshop because Dad uses it for his job; it *is awfully expensive.

  9. Lux: It is, I just hope that I'm able to teach myself how to use it. When it comes to things artistic, I am in the Dark Ages:)

I am a big fan of "Print Screen" many times free websites or free trials will allow you to make things but they charge you to save the file. You can just click Control & Print Screen (above the backspace button). Then you can just paste it into any photo software...even Paint. The last step is to just crop the portion you want and save it. Then you have a great banner ad or any size ad for free.

Okay, it was late last night so I did not search for the program I have been using lately. I just made two new banners recently and used free trial software. The one I used in the past expired so I needed to find a new one. So far it looks like this one does not expire but you have to do the print screen I mentioned before. I have only used the GIF one since flash will not work if you do it this way. http://www.bannerdesignerpro.com/?gclid=CLqNioeb0pgCFRk_awodiWa22A
