Admiral Mike Mullen made a stop today at the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He happens to be the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the highest ranking member of the US Military. My wife was able to attend the talk he gave and later, she was lucky enough to be able to meet him and shake his hand. He also gave her an awesome "keepsake" of their meeting: an inscribed coin that had "Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff" on one side and his name and rank on the other.
This photo was taken from her phone. The lady in the red jacket and white shirt is the Admiral's wife.
Later in the day, he gave a few more talks throughout the city.
Exciting Tim!
ReplyDeleteThat's very exciting! I have to admit I didn't even know who the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was and I haven't heard of his name before. Is he new in that position or am I just that much out of it?
ReplyDeleteMountain Woman: I know! His visit to the VA was totally unexpected, so she got very lucky.
ReplyDeleteBeadedTail: I have to admit that I didn't know either. He's been at that position since August of 2007. Yes, I cheated and looked it up on Google :)
I'm with Sharla, I didn't know who the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff was either. That must have been very exciting for your wife
ReplyDeleteAnn: Yes, she was really excited about it. To be able to say that you actually met the Chairman is something pretty cool :)
