Shopping for Bunk Beds

Remembering back when our kids were younger, one of the decisions my wife and had to make, was what type of beds to purchase for them. Since they were sharing a room at the time, we figured that in order to save space, it would be best to invest in bunk beds. However, since we were not the ones that were going to sleep in them, we asked the kids to see what they had to say about it. Well, it sure didn't take long for them to respond in a resounding, "YES!" So, with that decision behind us, we now had to decide what style of bunk beds to purchase.

The first question we asked ourselves is whether we wanted to get a metal bunk bed or a wooden one. Well, although we did like the look of some of the metal ones, for the most part, we thought they looked too "industrial" and not conducive to a our kid's room so, we decided on wood. Now that we knew the material of our bunk beds, we next had to decide on the style. Since our two kiddos would obviously be sharing and one was older than the other, we felt that a twin over full bunk bed would be a good choice. Our youngest would sleep in the top bunk with the twin bed and our oldest would occupy the lower one with the full bed.

Well, this happened many years ago and even though we eventually got them their bunk bed, it wasn't quite what we were looking for. You see, this was before the age of the Internet and our choices were limited mainly to stores located around our city. Now, all you have to do is go online and search for the bunk bed of your choice and you are inundated with choices. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. If you are currently searching for a bunk bed, a loft bed, or one with a futon, I have found a place you might want to shop at. By clicking on one of the links, you will be taken to a site where you can view many different styles, shapes, and designs of quality bunk beds.

If you would take a look at the following photo, you will see one of the many styles of bunk beds they offer. photo of bunk bedThis particular bed is made of solid pine and it also includes the slates for the mattress support (yes, this is a big thing) and plenty of storage. If you do not currently have mattresses, you have the option of ordering those as well. Since this bed is made of solid pine and weighs-in at a hefty 269 pounds, you know it's sturdy. There's also another nice surprise included with this bed...Free Shipping! Yes, you saw correctly. -You don't have to worry about shelling-out another few hundred bucks to have the bed shipped to your home: it's included in the price!

I just showed my wife the above photo and she agreed with me: if we could do it all over, we would definitely be getting our bunk bed from here. So, if you're currently in the market for a bunk bed, I hope that you will take a few minutes, wander over, and browse through their collection. I'm sure that you will find what you're looking for AND at a price you can afford.

Legal stuff...

Shopping for a New Bed

When you spend the night tossing and turning and then wake up to a sore back, you know that it is just about time to purchase a new bed. It has been over 15 years since we bought our current bed and I must say that we are long over-do for a new one. For us, finding the right bed is not just about the mattress, it is about the style as well. Although I may be partial to a sleigh-bed (I am a big Christmas fan), I know that it would not fit with the décor of our house. Since we currently have a solid oak bed, we will probably choose a bed from that style.

If you live in England, there is a place has a huge selection of beds that will fit your style and needs. They have wooden, leather, antique, metal, and divan beds (to name just a few). If you are looking for a complete overhaul of your bedroom, there is no need to worry, as they have a great selection of bedroom furniture as well. As I was wandering through their site, I started looking at their children’s beds. Now, even though our kids are too old for them, I do have to admit that I had a lot of fun looking through their selection. There was one bed I would have loved to been able to have when I was growing up; it is called a high sleeper bed. This bed is just like a bunk bed except, instead of a lower bunk, you have a desk and storage area.

Well, we are off on our bed-finding adventure. Although I don’t think I can talk my wife into one of those cool, high sleeper beds, I’m sure that we will find one that we both like. So, let us all strap-on our walking shoes and march into a good night’s sleep.
