Shopping for Insurance

If you are anything like me, you tend to get an insurance agent and then stick with them for years and years. I have been with our current agent for almost ten years now and I have been quite happy with the service I have been receiving. However, with everyone trying to save money, I think it may be time to dust-off my current policy and get some Free Insurance Quotes on the Internet. This way I can compare my current policy with others that are out there.

First and foremost, I will grab my car insurance and get some Auto Insurance Quotes. Since this is the policy that tends to change most often, I will begin my journey here. Depending on the company and if you have a clean driving record, you may be able to receive a discount on your premium. Also, as your car ages, its value decreases and it may no longer be worth the extra money you are paying to have full coverage on your car. If you find a company that saves you money, please make sure that you are getting the SAME coverage as your old policy. Policies will change from company to company, so please take the extra time and compare the new policy to your old one.

Next, I turn my attention to the house insurance. Again, we have been with the same insurance agent for just about ten years and, since I have access to my handy computer, I will go and get a few Free Online Home Insurance Quotes. Again, be sure that you are comparing apples to apples when shopping for policies. You may also want to keep in mind that some companies will give you a discount if you bundle your auto, home, and life insurance policies with them.

Whichever insurance company you go with, please be sure to keep your policies updated. For example, if you make any major improvements to your home, contact your agent and ask them if you should include the improvements in your policy. For example, when we pulled-up our carpeting and replaced it with wooden floors, I contacted our agent and he made the necessary adjustments to our policy. It may not seem like much now, but keeping your policy up-to-date, can save you headaches in the future.
