I Got a Major Award

It's been quite some time since I've received any awards, so I was very pleasantly surprised when I received these awards from my good friend over at Mom's Cafe Home Cooking.


The first award is...

So, where will I be in ten years? Probably still trying to think of an answer to this question. Actually, since the kids will be off on their own, I think I'll get off my butt and get a real job: "Welcome to Walmart!"

My Addictions...

1) this one is easy: Smoking. I started in Grad school and never gave the habit up.

2) Pistachios. I love these things, especially the salty shells.

3) Chicago Connection Pizza. They have the best pizza anywhere. Tons of cheese and just dripping with grease:) Unfortunately, I haven't been able to have one in over 14 months (yes, I am keeping track).

4) Reading. Give me a good book and I can be lost for hours. I am currently reading a book called Shadow Divers. It is about deep sea diving and the discovery and attempts to identify a U-Boat found off the coast of new Jersey. A true story and fascinating to read. I know that wreck diving is one thing I could never do.

5) Cooking. I love experimenting with different foods and combinations. Usually, it turns out pretty good.

New Year, New Awards

Several weeks ago I was presented with two very special awards. I want to apologize for taking so long to pass them along. First, I would like to give a warm thank you to Random Ramblings and Matthias Chronicles for presenting me the Friendship Award.

My Butterfly Award

I want to take this time to apologize for not announcing this award sooner. I have just been been swamped with things I have had to do. It mostly revolves around my teaching duties for my kids. I have been awarded several awards in the last few weeks and I have been woefully negligent in following-up with passing the awards along. I also need to apologize for the award that I lost. You see, I am still new at receiving awards and I figured that I could just keep track of them in my head. However, after receiving several awards at once, it soon became apparent that I need to come up with a better system of keeping track of them. This being the case, I decided to create a new folder just for awards. I am hopeful that this will prevent me from losing another one. I want you to know that I really appreciate these awards and I do not take them lightly. I am very sorry for losing the one award and for being so tardy in acknowledging my other ones. A Brilliant Award

I was pleasantly surprised last week when Aimey at cherry-blossom.us dropped by my site and told me that I was being presented with an award.




I was especially surprised when I saw what type of award it is...Brilliance. It couldn't be because of awe-inspiring template design, so it must have been my brilliant writing style (or lack thereof). Could Aimey's inspiration have come from my wonderfully poetic Ode to a Weekend or was it my riveting account of squirrel behavior in Squirrels, Cats, and Lawnmowers? Anyway, thank you once again for bestowing this award upon my humble person. Once again, I realize that not everyone will be able to participate, but that does not matter.
