Here is a simple recipe I threw together the other day while making dinner. I had made a batch of my home-made fries, but forgot to make a dip to go along with them. So, I went to the refrigerator and began throwing a few things together and the result is a pretty good imitation of a drive-in french fry sauce. I also ended-up putting this sauce on the hamburgers as well. Although the measurements do not need to be exact, what you are looking at is basically a 2:1 ratio of Mayo to Ketchup, with the pickle sauce adjusted to suit your taste.
What you need:
- ½ Cup mayonnaise
- ¼ Cup ketchup
- 3 tsp. Pickle Sauce (juice from your pickle jar)
Putting it together:
- Put mayonnaise in bowl
- Add ketchup and mix together until it takes on a pinkish hue (see photo)
- Add pickle juice and mix well
I've never had anything like that. sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I've never had a french fry sauce before other than ketchup but it looks really good.
ReplyDeleteHope you having a safe and happy 4th!
Cactus Jack Splash: I'm right there with you :)
ReplyDeleteAnn: It is. I even use it on the burgers instead of ketchup and mayo.
BeadedTail: It's actually very good. If you're not sure, you can make a very small batch and try it: maybe a tablespoon of mayo, a teaspoon and a half of ketchup, and half a teaspoon of pickle juice. That way if you decide you don't like it, you're not out a lot of condiments.
I'll stick with ketchup.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great. I'll have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteKaren & Gerard Zemek: Funny, that's just what my youngest said. She loves ketchup on her fries.
ReplyDeleteGrampy: I'm sure you'll like it:)
I love fry sauce, sometimes I make fries just so I can have fry sauce :)

What is pickle sauce?
ReplyDeletePeople Peeves: If you bring out a jar of pickles from your refrigerator, the liquid that your pickles are floating around in, is the Pickle Sauce. Just take your 3 teaspoons from there. Great question and I'll amend the recipe in case anyone else might have the same question.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
